EAS 385 000: Special Topics in East Asian Studies - Elementary Korean I

Content: Korean 101 is the first of two courses designed to introduce students to modern Korean. The course begins with an introduction to the sound system and moves on to training of basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Classes have an additional aim of introducing students to aspects of Korean culture.

Content: This course is designed for HERITAGE SPEAKERS of Korean who already possess basic speaking and listening skills. While the course aims at helping students reach intermediate level communicative skill both in spoken and written Korean, its focus will be on the training of reading and writing skills. By the end of the semester students will acquire the ability to read and write about a variety of everyday topics.
